THE UNREALIST: STEVE WALKER

Steve Walker was one of the funniest guys I have had the pleasure of meeting, and briefly working alongside when I arranged for him, Mike Easterbrook and myself to do some card stuff in a late bar session at a convention. I have never laughed so hard as I did at one routine he performed. He had great timing, and some serious chops with cards. On the occasions I contacted Steve he was always helpful, friendly and funny. I will miss his newsletter and his humor which could be seen throughout each issue. It was always a privilege to be "dealt in". At that same convention almost every time I saw Steve during the downtime, he was obsessing over learning one specific card move. It looked great, but he would not stop trying to make it better. On the odd occasion i caught his glance, and he didn't have cards in his hands he would quickly start miming the actions of the move, as though he hadn't noticed me. He cracked me up. Steve passed away on December 11, 2014.
